This is my regular Magic: The Gathering spot, tucked into Pinecrest. It doesn’t market itself as an MTG shop first — walk in and the energy skews Cardfight Vanguard, with a serious tournament scene (cash prizes, 1K/6K events, 3v3 formats) and a deep stock of Yu-Gi-Oh!, Digimon, Dragon Ball Super, ShadowVerse Evolved, and Naruto CCG on top of that. But it’s a registered Wizards Play Network store, and the open-play floor on weekday evenings and weekend afternoons is where I’ve been pulling up for regular Magic games.
What doesn’t show up on their website or Yelp at all: they’re also a real hub for tabletop miniature wargaming. King Slayer sponsors and hosts miniatures gaming, including a recurring Blood Bowl league and an ongoing BattleTech campaign — the kind of standing, organized play a lot of shops talk about but don’t actually sustain.
I sit in these chairs, and it’s nice to have a local community I can set roots in again. Miami’s diaspora means the currents shift — people come and go — but I’m glad to have a game shop again. The shop supports us as wargamers, roleplayers, and card gamers, so I’m happy to wear all of those hats. I don’t paint and play as many wargames as I’d like, but the community keeps me engaged. My pile of unpainted plastic keeps growing, but I know I can still turn up and play regardless of my complex schedule.
Singles run through TCGPlayer Pro pricing, sealed product’s in stock, and they’ll do custom pre-built decks if you want something off the shelf. Family-friendly, “old school card shop” feel by reputation — friendly, low-pressure, the kind of place that’s fine with you bringing your own game and just hanging out.
